Dramatic Mitochondrial Gene Rearrangements in the Hermit Crab Pagurus longicarpus (Crustacea, Anomura)

We mistakenly reported a novel location for arthropod tRNA valine between the ND1 and 16S genes. J. Boore (personal communication) noted that our reported valine was structurally flawed and found an acceptable valine in the typical arthropod location between the 16S and 12S ribosomal RNA genes (shown below). This has been corrected in our GenBank submission (bases 2901–2971 in the GenBank submission AF150756). Therefore, we found a total of seven differences from the Drosophila yakuba mitochondrial gene order rather than the reported eight.
